DIGITAL ACCESS vocabulary




  • America Offline ........... Having a connection to fast, open and affordable Internet is no longer a luxury – it’s a public necessity. But America is suffering from a “digital divide.” 




  • digital divide .........refers to the gap between individuals, households, businesses and geographic areas at different socio-economic levels with regard both to their opportunities to access information and communications technologies (ICT's) and to their use of the Internet for a wide variety of activities.




  • Unequal Access .........Broadband in America today is not equally accessible. Broadband subscribers are largely middle- or upper-class and living in urban or suburban areas. Poorer communities and communities of color as well as communities in rural settings have been largely left off the grid.




  • Innovators .........in a general sense, is a person or an organization who is one of the first to introduce into reality something better than before. That often opens up a new area for others and achieves an innovation.




  • What are the options for better Access? .......... some people may try to move closer to a city where computer access is more widely accessible.




  • Explain the Final Recommendations? ........ most % of people that are not near a city that are mostly out in the middle of nowhere usually don't have computer access.




  • What could be done to increase internet access and create more choices for communities nationwide? ......... try to establish wider range on the towers for people who can't access the internet due to the range of the towers rays.




  • What actions need to be taken to keep the internet open for users and innovators? ............ anyone who is not using the internet for ethical reasons should not be allowed to access the internet.
